The Government of Assam has officially released the notification for Assam Special Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 for Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) levels. This Special TET is conducted for candidates of Bodo, Garo, Manipuri and Hmar medium as per NCTE guidelines.
Qualified candidates of Assam Special TET 2026 will be eligible to participate in future recruitment processes for elementary level teacher posts in Assam, subject to fulfillment of other academic and professional qualifications.

Eligibility Criteria for Assam Special TET 2026
Residency
Candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam.
Educational Qualification
Lower Primary TET (Classes I to V)
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks + 4-year B.El.Ed
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Special Education
- Graduation + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
Upper Primary TET (Classes VI to VIII)
- Graduation + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
- Graduation with 50% marks + B.Ed
- Post Graduation with 55% marks + Integrated B.Ed-M.Ed
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks + 4-year B.El.Ed
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks + 4-year BA/BSc Ed
- Graduation with 50% marks + 1-year B.Ed (Special Education)
Note: Minimum percentage criteria will not apply to candidates admitted to B.Ed/B.El.Ed courses before 29 July 2011.
