Eligibility Criteria of Assam High School Teacher Recruitment


  • Nationality: Candidates must be a Permanent Resident of Assam .

Age Limit: Candidates age should not be less than 18 years and not more than 40 years as on 01/01/2023.

Age Relaxation: The upper age relaxation will be as follows-

  • OBC/MOBC: 3 Years
  • ST/SC: 5 Years
  • Ex-Servicemen: 2 Years
  • PwD: 10 Years 

Educational Qualification


Graduate Teacher (Arts & Science)

  • For the post of Graduate Teacher (Arts), the candidate must be Arts / Commerce Graduate or Post Graduate in Arts / Commerce having from recognized University with at least 50% marks in either Graduation or Post Graduation (or its equivalent) and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from National Council for Teacher Education recognized Institution(s).

  • For the post of Graduate Teacher (Science), the candidate must be Science Graduate or Post Graduate in Science having from recognized University with at least 50% marks in either Graduation or Post Graduation (or its equivalent) and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from National Council for Teacher Education recognized Institution(s).

Graduate Teacher (Hindi)

  • Pravin / Ratna in Hindi with 50% marks and degree qualification with 50% marks or post Graduate degree in Arts with 50% marks from any recognized University, Or BA with 50% marks and having Hindi as one of the subjects with 50% marks or post Graduate in Arts with 50% marks provided that he has passed BA with one of the subjects as Hindi with 50% marks in Hindi.

  • B.T / B.Ed. degree from any recognized University (Parangat to be treated as B.Ed. degree).

Graduate Teacher (Sanskrit)

  • Shastri with 50% marks and having degree qualification with 50% marks or post Graduate degree in Arts with 50% marks from any recognized University, Or BA with 50% marks and having Sanskrit as one of the subjects with 50% of marks or Post Graduate Degree in Arts with 50% marks in Sanskrit.

  • B.T. / B.Ed. degree from any recognized University.
 
Off-campus Degree: As per the Assam Secondary Education (Provincialised Schools) (Amendment) Service Rules, 2021, those institutions having territorial jurisdiction outside the State of Assam but having a study centre in the State and such study centres if not recognized by DEC under UGC, the degrees / certificates issued by such off campus institutions shall not be considered as valid for the purpose of employment under Education Department. However degrees / diplomas conferred by KKHSOU, IGNOU, IDOL under Gauhati University and Distance Education under Dibrugarh University shall be considered as valid for the purpose of employment.

Medium Instruction

  • In the case of Assamese Medium Schools, the candidate must have passed HSLC or equivalent Examination with Assamese Language as one of the subjects or have a Diploma in Assamese Language issued by the Axom Sahitya Sabha or read up to HSLC level in Assamese Medium School.
  • In the case of Bengali Medium Schools, the candidate must have passed HSLC or equivalent Examination with the Bengali language as one of the subjects or have in the Bengali Language issued by the Barak Upatyaka Bangya Sahitya Sanskriti Sammetan or read up to HSLC level in Bengali Medium School.
  • In the case of Hindi Medium Schools, the candidate must have passed HSLC or equivalent Examination with Hindi language as one of the subjects or read up to HSLC level in Hindi Medium Schools.
  • In the case of Bodo Medium Schools, the candidate must have passed HSLC or equivalent Examination with Bodo language as one of the subjects or read up to HSLC level in Bodo Medium School.
  • In the case of English Medium Schools, the candidate must have passed HSLC or equivalent Examination with Alternative English as one of the subjects or read from Class XI onwards in English medium Schools.

Assam Special TET Exam 2025 – Apply Online for LP/UP TET Exam



Govt. of Assam has released the official notification of 6th Schedule Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)-2023 for Lower Primary and Upper Primary level for the 6th Schedule area districts of Assam. Interested and eligible candidates having permanent residence in the 6th Schedule area district of Assam may appear in Paper I (Lower Primary) and Paper II (Upper Primary) of Special 6th Schedule TET-2023.

 

The qualified candidates of the 6th Schedule TET will be eligible to participate in the recruitment process for the post of elementary teachers of schools located in the 6th Schedule area provided they have other academic and professional qualification as per NCTE norms.


Name of Exam: Special 6th Schedule Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)-2023


Name of Authority: State Level Empowered Committee, TET

Type of Exam: Written Exam (OMR)


Date of Exam: 30th April 2023


Duration of Exam: 2 Hours 30 Minutes for each Paper. An additional 20 minutes time (per hour) will be there for visually impaired candidates.


No of Paper: Two Papers.


Paper-I: Lower Primary (LP)

Paper-II: Upper Primary (UP)

Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)


No of Questions: 150 MCQs for each Paper.


Negative Marking: There is no negative marking in Assam TET Exam, 2021.


Medium of Exam: Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Hindi and English


Validity of TET Certificate: This TET Exam Certificate will be valid for a lifetime.


Qualifying Mark: A candidate is required to score 60% i.e. 90 marks out of 150 to qualify the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET). However, for SC/ST (Hills)/ ST (Plain)/ OBC/MOBC/ PWD (PH), there will be a relaxation of 5%. Thus, for these candidates, qualifying marks will be 83 out of 150 i.e. 55%.

Eligibility Criteria of Assam TET


Residentship: Candidate must be a permanent resident of the 6th Schedule area districts, i.e., Baksa, Chirang, Dima-Hasao, Kokrajhar, Karbi-Anglong, West Karbi-Anglong and Udalguri.


Educational Qualification: The educational qualifications for Lower Primary and Upper Primary Assam TET exam are as mentioned below.


Lower Primary TET (Classes I to V)


a) Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)

OR

Graduation and two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) obtained from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in class I to V, provided the person so appointed as teacher will have to mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two years of such appointment as primary teacher.


b) However, a candidate who is pursuing and having Admit Card of final year examination of any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Guideline dated 11th February, 2011, may also apply for TET. However he/she can apply for appointment only after acquiring all the required qualification.


Remark: Candidate admitted into 2 year D.El.Ed program before 31st August 2009: Please refer to Clause B under subheading Relaxation.


Upper Primary TET (Classes VI to VIII)


a) Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

OR

At least 50% marks either in Graduation or in Post Graduation and B. Ed

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B. El. Ed).

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A./ B. Sc. Ed. Or B.A. Ed/B. Sc. Ed.

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year B. Ed. (Special Education)


Note: Minimum percentage of marks in graduation shall not be applicable to those in cumbents who had already taken admission to the Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Elementary Education or  equivalent course prior to the 29th July, 2011.


b) However, a person who is pursuing and having Admit Card of final year Examination of any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Guideline dated 11th February, 2011, may also apply for TET. However he/she can apply for appointment only after acquiring all the required qualification.


Remark: Candidate those who were admitted in 1-Year B.Ed. program before 31st August 2009 please refer to Clause C under subheading Relaxation.


Relaxation: Following relaxation will be applicable


A. Relaxation up to 5% in the academic marks in HSSLC or Graduation shall be applicable for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PWD(PH) to appear in TET (The degree of handicap in case of PH candidates should be minimum 40% and to be certified by the competent authority) both for Paper-I (LP Level) and Paper-II (UP Level).


B. For Paper-I (LP Level) relaxation up to 5% in HSSLC marks shall be applicable for candidates who were admitted in 2-Year D.El.Ed before 31/08/2009 as per NCTE Notification No. F.51-1/2009-NCTE (N&S) dated 31st August 2009 and qualified 2-Year D.El.Ed subsequently.


C. For Paper-II (UP Level) relaxation up to 5% in Graduation marks shall be applicable for candidates who were admitted in 1-Year B.Ed. before 31/08/2009 as per NCTE Notification No. F.51-1/2009-NCTE (N&S) dated 31st August 2009 and qualified 1-Year B.Ed. subsequently.

Application Fee of Assam TET Exam


To complete the application process, candidates have to pay the following mentioned amount as the application fee. Payment will be received through an online payment gateway and candidates will be able to make payments through their Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, UPI etc.
