CBSE CTET 2026 – Notification, Exam Date, Eligibility, Application Details





Exam Date: 08 February 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) on 08 February 2026. The examination will be held across 132 cities in India, including Guwahati, Dibrugarh, and Silchar in Assam. CTET is mandatory for candidates who wish to become teachers in government and private schools affiliated with CBSE.

Eligibility Criteria


The eligibility criteria for CTET 2026 are prescribed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Candidates can check details on ncte.gov.in.

For Classes I–V (Primary Stage)

  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed.
  • OR Senior Secondary with 45% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed (as per NCTE 2002 norms).
  • OR Senior Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 4-year B.El.Ed.
  • OR Graduation with 50% marks and B.Ed.
  • Note: Candidates with B.Ed must complete a 6-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education after appointment.

For Classes VI–VIII (Elementary Stage)

  • Graduation and passed/appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed.
  • OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed/appearing in 1-year B.Ed.
  • OR Senior Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 4-year B.El.Ed / B.A.Ed / B.Sc.Ed.
  • OR Graduation with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 1-year B.Ed (Special Education).

How to Apply for CTET 2026


  1. Go to the official website: https://ctet.nic.in
  2. Click on the “Online Application Form” link.
  3. Register and fill in your personal and educational details.

  5. Pay the exam fee and submit the form.
  6. Take a printout of the submitted application for reference.

CTET 2026 Exam Pattern


CTET exam will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying 1 mark. There will be no negative marking. Duration for each paper: 2 hours 30 minutes.

As per CBSE Notification, a huge number of candidates applied in CTET 2025  Examination. Now the candidate has to prepare themselves for qualify in the CTET Examination 2025. We are here with the Complete Syllabus of CTET July 2025. Check below Syllabus for Paper I  and Paper II  for CTET July 2025.



STRUCTURE AND CONTENT OF CTET Syllabus :

All questions in CTET will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with four alternatives out of which one answer will be most appropriate. Each carrying one mark and there will be no negative marking.

There will be two papers of CTET July 2025.  :

(i) Paper, I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V.

(ii) Paper-II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.



Note: 

A person who intends to be a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to appear in both the papers (Paper I and Paper II).

Paper-II (for Classes VI to VIII) Elementary Stage :

Duration of examination - Two-and-a-half hours

Structure and Content (All Compulsory): (Appendix I)

(i) Child Development & Pedagogy(compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 Marks

(ii) Language I (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 Marks

(iii) Language II (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 Marks

(iv) Mathematics and Science 60 MCQs 60 Marks (for Mathematics and Science teacher)
