The Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme is launched by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the Ministry of Education to provide financial assistance to students of the North Eastern Region (NER) pursuing undergraduate courses. This scheme aims to promote higher education and enhance employability.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a domicile of any of the NER states: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura.
  • Must have passed Class 12 (10+2) and taken admission in a first-year UG course in any UGC-recognized institution.
  • Family income must not exceed ₹4.5 lakh per annum.
  • Should be enrolled in full-time general or professional degree courses.
  • Students enrolled through management quota, pursuing diploma courses, or availing other scholarships are NOT eligible.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
  2. Register as a new user and log in.
  3. Select "Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme for NER".
  4. Fill in your personal, academic, and bank details.
  5. Upload required documents:
    • Domicile Certificate of NER state
    • Class 12 Marksheets
    • Income Certificate (not older than 6 months)
    • Proof of Admission
    • Bank passbook first page (with IFSC)
    • Valid Identity Proof (Aadhaar/School ID)
  6. Submit the form and take a printout for future reference.

Selection Process

  • Selection will be based on merit and state-wise distribution of slots.
  • PWD students will get reservation as per norms.
  • Final merit list will be published on the NSP website.

Renewal Process

  • Students must pass each academic year to renew the scholarship.
  • Progress report must be submitted every year.
  • Change of course or institution without approval may lead to cancellation.
