Eligibility Criteria of NTA UGC NET December 2025
Age Limit
- JRF: Not more than 30 years as on 01.12.2025. Relaxation of up to 5 years is provided for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, Third Gender, and female candidates.
- Assistant Professor / Ph.D. Admission: No upper age limit.
Educational Qualification
- General/EWS candidates must have secured at least 55% marks in Master’s degree or equivalent examination from a UGC-recognized university.
- OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender candidates must have at least 50% marks.
- Candidates pursuing or awaiting results of their final year Master’s degree can also apply.
- Candidates with a 4-year or 8-semester bachelor’s degree having 75% marks or equivalent grade may also apply for JRF or Ph.D. admission.
Note: Candidates qualifying in NET based on a 4-year degree are eligible for JRF and Ph.D. admission only but not for Assistant Professor posts.
